There is really just enough metal to hold a press in stud. In designing these pedestals Pontiac did not leave any extra Cast Iron to make up for stupid machinists. Now for a long time there were a group of people that would machine this cast iron away and thoroughly weaken this area. Their modifications were questionable at best.
